About

The New River flows north and west out of North Carolina, through Virginia and on to Gauley Bridge, West Virginia, where the New meets the Gauley River to form the Great Kanawha.  For the second year in a row,  the National Committee for the New River has organized a trip from Boone to Gauley Bridge — more than 340 river miles.  Here you’ll find some of the story of this year’s trip, as well as some stories from last year.

Coverage of this year’s trip is made possible in part by a grant from The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge.
